Education Secretary Visits Ysgol Bryn Elian

blogEntryTopperYsgol Bryn Elian staff and students were delighted to welcome Cabinet Secretary for Education Kirsty Williams to the school on Monday 21st November 2016.A Level Computer Science student Benedict Walsh impressed the Cabinet Secretary with his demonstration of the HCT VIVE and she gamely took the opportunity to try out the virtual reality headset for herself, creating some impressive artistic images. She went on to announce the breaking news that £5 million is to be invested in improving IT connectivity for schools in Wales in the coming months. She spoke of her delight in being able to announce such exciting news in “an outstanding school with outstanding teachers”.

Ms Williams later met with members of the Senior Team and Year 13 students Keely Beardsall, Christie Harrison-Jones, Joel Patton and Beth McLeod who she quizzed on their views of the new Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification. The students spoke positively of the range of opportunities the qualification has given them and their gratitude at the opportunity to take such a rigorous and exciting qualification.The weather may have been bleak but the atmosphere within the school for the visit was bright and welcoming.
