The Promotion of Enquiry and Research as a Strategic Priority

blogEntryTopperClose to practice, educational research is a strategic priority. In 2017/18, all departments were asked to designate a research lead in charge of carrying out a research project. Eleven enquiries were carried out and a research portfolio was produced in July 2018. Findings were shared with colleagues during a poster session organised by Emma Bishop in September 2018.

Bryn Elian Celebrate 2018 Results

blogEntryTopperOnce again, we are delighted by the outstanding results achieved by our dedicated and hard working pupils with 2018 giving us yet another excellent crop of GCSE and Post 16 performance results with a 100% meeting the Level 3 Threshold. All students gained qualifications with many of pupils gaining A*/A or equivalent in at least one subject area and all students also leaving Year 11 with at least 5 GCSE’s. Performing Arts Easter Eggstravaganza Concert

blogEntryTopperOver 50 pupils took part in the Performing Arts Department Easter Eggstravaganza concert on Tuesday 20th March. The event saw singers and instrumentalist performing music in all styles and from all eras in front of a sell-out audience in Studio One. Some of the highlights included a MAT group performance of the classic Nirvana song “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, Ffion Boardman performing “La Donna e Mobile” on the flute, the brass group performing the Darth Vader theme from “Star Wars”, Tomos Bohanna singing “Elen Fwyn” and Alex Gardiner performing the jazz standard “Opus One” on the saxophone. The evening finished with a “circus” inspired performance of “The Greatest Show” choreographed and performed by the year 7 dancers. Read More…

'The Shades' visit Bryn Elian

blogEntryTopper‘The Shades’, an up and coming band were at Ysgol Bryn Elian last Friday. They are on an Online Safety, Cyber Bullying & Discrimination themed school tour, travelling to various areas around the UK. We were lucky enough to have them visit us. Year 8 enjoyed the performances, having photos taken with them and asking for autographs. They didn’t just perform for the pupils, they also delivered an Online Safety, Cyber Bullying & Discrimination themed message.
